39 YEARS OF PRIESTLY SERVICE TO THE CHURCH
The third Sunday of Lent 2020 was memorable for the people of God in Kumbo Diocese as His Lordship Mgr. George Nkuo, Bishop of the same, celebrated his 39th anniversary in the priesthood of the Roman Catholic Church. Three priests of his Diocese, the Provincial Superior of the Tertiary Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi, Sr. Gloria Wirba and other members of her Congregation, as well as the Vicar of the Sisters of the Handmaids of the Holy Child Jesus and members, answered present for the 8:30a. mass presided at by the Bishop. A few lay faithful attended.
I’m his homily, basing on the readings of the day, the Bishop noted inter alia: Christ is near to each and everyone of us on the path of life; no matter where we all standing life, maybe in the beginning or well on into life, the Master never allows us to walk the lonely roads of life alone; and this gives us a reason to be filled with Easter joy as the disciples on Emmaus were.
Beforel blessings the Bishop thanked all present and all who participated spiritually via social media and through the Diocesan Radio.
It would be noted that His Lordship Mgr George is 67 years old, 39years in the priesthood during which he spent 25years in Buea Diocese and 14 in Kumbo. As he celebrates, he also prays for his classmates of Buea who have died and also the Bishop who ordained him, Mgr. Pius AWA, Emeritus Bishop of Buea, not forgetting his family members especially his Mother whom he holds close at heart.
This already marks the beginning of the Ruby Jubilee to be celebrated next year. We look forward to that and wish our Bishop many more fruitful years in service.
